Retro Wallpaper Inspiration

We were up in the Barossa Valley on the weekend and decided to pop into a second-hand shop called "Browsers". Amongst all the retro eye candy I came across this vintage wallpaper swatch book by Abbotts. Dated 1970-1971 it is full of delightful prints that you may remember from your childhood. Feeling inspired, I decided I couldn't leave this one behind. A bit more than what I would normally pay for something like this ($85), but I figure I could easily spend that on a design book in a book store.
I have grand plans to use these textures in a new vintage inspired print range that I am currently working out in my head. Probably will become a winter project so will post more as my ideas come together!

Light of Hope Charity Exhibition

I am so proud of my wonderful husband Denis. Less than two years ago Denis picked up a camera for the first time and since then has created what's now known as the "Ball of Light".

The Ball of Light is a photographic project created to inspire other photographers and bring hope to people. Some see the photos as spiritual, some are simply drawn into the amazing compositions, and some follow the Ball of Light as it travels to various locations.

Last night we had our first public event at the Messagemark Design Studio. It was also Denis' first solo exhibition, and I'm sure the first of many to come.

It was overwhelming with more than 60 people not only enjoying Denis' creative work, but also supporting Plan's GirlsFund. Denis donated 100% of open edition print sales, and 20% of limited edition print sales to the cause. We were thrilled to support our friend Mardi from Little Luv in her quest to raise $10,000 for the charity prior to heading to Nepal for a 2 week trek.

I have to say it again, I am so proud of Denis and what he has achieved in such a short amount of time. Thanks to all who attended last night and for showing their support. In total it looks like we raised approximately $1600!

Erica Flower Studio

This may sound strange but I call my Dad 'Erica'. His name is actually Eric, but I suppose you could say Erica is my pet name for him. Poor man, I hope he isn't having an identity crisis. All his life he has constantly been surrounded by women, including my 2 sisters, Mum and a female cat! Anyway, why did I mention that, I don't really know, but my new stockist Erica Flower Studio made me think of my Dad!
